Ministry Accountability
Each ministry operates with a deep sense of commitment to the Word of God and the calling of Jesus Christ. Although there is that deep accountability to God and His Word, each ministry is also accountable to the Servants Council and to the Elders Board. Safe Haven is determined never to become a business and therefore it avoids using, where possible, terminology that is not found in the Scriptures or indeed, the history of the church. Therefore it has an Elders Council, of duly elected men from the congregation whose spiritual character and ability is the key to their service. The Servants Council is made up of representatives of each ministry and members of the congregation. They serve together in such a way that needs are considered and reviewed and this of course provides a centre of accountability and a great opportunity for sharing and for a team spirit and for a team spirit of working together in the cause of Christ.
Ministry Possibilities
As the family looks to the Lord and becomes deeply sensitive to His leading, it is likely that new and dynamic ministries will be introduced over the next year and these could include the following:
-
International Outreaches – we are already thrilled that part of our family meets bi-weekly for Bible Study, this part of the family being Filipino. Of course this meets a tremendous need and we look forward to seeing this expand.
-
We have identified some 28 nationalities in our church family, and it is our hope and prayer that we might indeed see outreaches such as the Filipino outreach, to the Spanish speaking people, and this is a matter which is before the Lord in prayer.
-
Vacation Bible Schools – Our Children’s Pastor annually puts plans together to see a Vacation Bible School during the March Break and then during the summer, with other outreaches as the needs present themselves and as the occasions arise.
